Causes of Acne

There is no one factor that is responsible for acne. This occurs at the time of puberty when the oil glands come to life after being stimulated by the male hormones from the adrenal glands of both boys as well as girls. This oil, known as Sebum, is a natural substance that actually lubricates and protects your skin. In certain situations, the cells that are closer to the surface actually block the openings of the sebaceous glands, thereby causing an oil build up. It is this oil that stimulates the bacteria on your skin to multiply, thus causing the surrounding tissues to become inflamed. The inflammation near the skin’s surface results in a pustule and if the inflammation is a little deeper then it forms a pimple or papule. However, if the inflammation is much deeper, then it results in a cyst. Some of the other causes of Acne include pressure, medicines and occupation.
